Hi, My name is Peter Boches. I've worked as a plant breeder, plant scientist, and private consultant since earning my horticulture PhD from Oregon State University in 2009. As a plant breeder I've helped to create innovative blueberry and tomato varieties. I've conducted field trials with fruits and vegetables in Oregon, Washington, California, Mexico, and Hawaii.

I'm passionate about plant breeding. Variety is the spice of life. I get a thrill when  I discover that a new cross worked or finding when I find a promising new seedling in the breeding nursery. Whether you are part of a large scale commercial farming operation or a backyard hobbyist, it all begins with the seeds you choose to plant. I can help you with variety selection: all the way from designing field trials to deciding which variety is the best choice for you...to developing your own private breeding program and filing plant patents to protect your inventions.

I've worked with a wide range of crops over my career. As a grad student I conducted variety trials with all manner of vegetable crops. As a plant breeder I've worked on tomato, carrot, onion, and blueberry. And more recently I've been growing a host of different fruit and spice crops in Hawaii, from Abiu to Zingiber.
